Designer Smartphone – Honor View 20 feat. Moshino
A hole in the screen and fantastic design. The Honor View 20 is a real statement for the Chinese smartphone brand. We were invited to the release in Paris, and we’ll tell you all about the collaboration between the designer brand Moshino and the smartphone-trendsetter Honor.
In-Screen camera – a hole in your display
Not only IT fans are stoked by the new solution for selfie cams. Next to leading IT experts the exclusive event in Paris flooded by Instagram Influencers – and everyone was there to get the first look at the new smartphone’s extraordinary design.
6,4-inch display – and you can feel every bit of it. The Honor View 20 pretty much doesn’t have an edge. But we were concerned with a different question: Isn’t a camera in the screen really annoying? The answer is no. The In-Screen camera has been placed nicely in the far corner of the screen. Even in full-screen mode it seems to blend in and leave room for the spacious display. Honor’s hole in the screen has left the “Notch” trend behind and taken its place. Btw. A “Notch” is the indent on a screen where the camera sits. The trend was started by the new iPhone X.

Phantom Red and Phantom Blue. The man behind the design is no other than the founder of the Italian designer Brand Moshino – and the glass cover is a real eye catcher. The so-called Aurora Nano design reflects differently depending on how the light falls. Whether in red, black or blue the View 20 back cover is a real treat. Although the phone is fairly large due to the giant screen it still perfectly sits in the user’s hand. Unlike its predecessor, the edges of the screen on the Honor View 20 are not bent, but that’s simply a matter of taste.
The main camera is fantastic. 48 Megapixels & 3D sensors – the camera detects humans, animals and objects and tailors its settings to create perfect conditions for every shot. Even in night mode the colours still radiate, and it creates exciting contrasts bringing your images to life. Also, the 25 Megapixel front camera delivers good results. The downside: it smoothens faces a bit too much, even when beauty mode is turned off.
A great design and a good camera aren’t enough to justify the price of 570 Euros, so we were glad to see that it has more to offer. The Honor View 20 runs completely smooth and is super easy to use. Even can run several complex apps at the same time without slowing down. Most users will find enough space for their images and music with either 128 GB or 256 GB storage. Sadly, you can’t add additional storage, because it doesn’t have a SD-Card slot. On the plus side, Honor has stayed old-school and decided not to get rid of the slowly dying headphone jack. It’s large battery should get you through the day – or more likely two days without charging. When the times come it will only take about 1.5 hours before you can get back out on the street.
With an extraordinary design and the In-Screen camera the Honor View 20 is probably the most modern phone on the market when it comes to looks. The high performance, powerful battery and camera make it a great value for price. Honor’s new smartphone can be purchase from 570 Euros.
